Libraries have been a cornerstone of the Arlington community since 1917. Since 2013, the Arlington Libraries Foundation has supported our community in a variety of ways. Read on to learn more about the initiatives we’ve funded!
In Fiscal Year 2025, the Arlington Libraries Foundation will provide $92,700 to support the Robbins and Fox Branch Libraries. This funding allows the libraries to offer vital services to our community. The following is a detailed listing of those funds.
The Arlington Libraries Foundation supports a number of programs in the community. Our Arlington Reads Together Speaker Series brings prominent authors to the library each March to speak about topics of interest to the community. In addition, our Civic Engagement Series brings speakers in to discuss the structure and function of local and national civic organizations.
ALF funds a variety of library services targeted to adults. Subscriptions included Overdrive Advantage, which allows us to expand our library offerings through access to downloadable content both ebooks and eaudiobooks, and Hoopla which allows the community to access a wide variety of programming. We also fund additional purchase of books as well as speed reads, which are popular books limited to two week loans. Funding is provided for the Arlington Author Salon, as well as prizes for adult summer reading.
ALF provides funding for reading materials for children, including books and graphic novels. We also provide funding to encourage summer reading by supporting purchase of books used as reading incentives for kids.
ALF supports Arlington teens by funding summer reading books and prizes that serve as summer reading incentives.
At the Fox Branch, ALF purchases speed reads titles.
ALF funds the salary of an additional librarian for the Children’s Room on Sundays. This high traffic time, during the school year, is always busy and having a second librarian allows all community members to have access to assistance when they need it.
